Hanover Family Physicians

M. Lee Blackburn, Jr., MD

Dr. Blackburn earned his doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine before completing his internship in family medicine at the Medical College of Georgia and his family practice residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has been providing outstanding medical care since 1989. Dr. Blackburn maintains active memberships with the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians with added qualification certification in geriatric and sports medicine.

Julie Campbell-Leonard, FNP

Julie Campbell-Leonard has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1999, and she focuses on women’s health. With an extensive education, Julie earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1992, graduating Cum Laude, from Radford University. In 1995, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Radford University, graduating Cum Laude again. Julie then received her Master’s of Science in Nursing in 1996 and her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification in 1997, both from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Julie is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is board certified by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

In her free time, Julie enjoys boating and snow skiing.

Mark G. Petrizzi, MD

Dr. Petrizzi has been providing the highest standard of medical care since 1992. He earned his doctorate from State University of New York, Downstate and completed his internship and family practice residency at the Medical College of Virginia and Hanover Family Physicians. He has several scholarly publications to his name within the field of sports medicine. To stay up-to-date on all the latest advancements in the extensive field of family medicine, Dr. Petrizzi maintains active memberships with the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the Catholic Medical Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.

He also enjoys church activities and spending time with his wife and six
children.

Michael J. Petrizzi, MD

Dr. Petrizzi has been setting the highest standards of excellence in medical practice for nearly 25 years! He earned his undergraduate degree at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, and his medical degree at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn before completing a family practice residency and a faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. An esteemed member of the medical community, Dr. Petrizzi has authored several scientific articles and book chapters, is a noted public lecturer, is certified by the American Board of Family Physicians, and is an active member in many leading medical organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Association, and many others.

When not in the office, Dr. Petrizzi enjoys physical fitness, outdoor activities, travel, and spending time with his wife and three children.

Gregory Stephens, MD

Highly respected by his peers, Dr. Gregory Stephens earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Randolph-Macon College in May 1989. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine in May 1993. Dr. Stephens then completed a Family Practice Internship and Residency from July 1993-June 1996 at East Tennessee State University, School of Medicine.

On July 12, 1996, Dr. Stephens became board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and was recertified on July 12, 2002. His areas of special medical interest include nutrition and promoting healthy lifestyles. To stay up-to-date with his field and special interest areas, Dr. Stephens is a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine.

Away from the office, he volunteers with the Hanover Interfaith Free Clinic. Dr. Stephens is married and has one daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family, gardening and reading.

Kimberly B. Walker, MD

Practicing since 2002, Dr. Kimberly B. Walker enjoys focusing on women’s health and adolescent medicine. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Virginia in 1994 and earned her Doctor of Medicine from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001. Dr. Walker then completed a Family Practice Residency as an intern from 2001-2002 at the Medical College of Virginia. From 2002-2004, she was a Resident at Hanover Family Physicians, serving as Chief Resident from 2003-2004.

Board certified by the American Board of Family Practice in December 2004, Dr. Walker feels it is important to stay current with the advancements made in her field. She does so by holding memberships in the American Academy of Family Physicians and the AOA Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Walker is married and has two sons. They have lived in Richmond since 1996. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, hiking and hanging out with her kids.

Charlotte B. Woodfin, MD

Dr. Charlotte B. Woodfin earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Vanderbilt University College of Arts & Sciences in 1991. In 1995, she then obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia, School of Medicine. After graduating, Dr. Woodfin completed an internship at the University of Virginia in the Department of Family Practice from June 1995-June 1996 and became a Resident at the University of Virginia in the Department of Family Practice from July 1996-June 1998.

In 1998, Dr. Woodfin became board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and was recertified in 2004. She is also the recipient of the Richmond Magazine Top Docs Award.

Dr. Woodfin stays on the cutting-edge of medicine by maintaining memberships in the Medical Society of Virginia, the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

When not at the office, she enjoys volunteering at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Her hobbies also include gardening, skiing and spending time with her children.

Jennifer E. Carr, MD

Dr. Carr earned her doctorate from Bowman Gray School of Medicine and completed her residency in family medicine at Blackstone Family Practice. She has been providing the highest level of medical care available since 1992. She maintains active memberships with prestigious professional organizations such as the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Micah T. Houghton, MD

Board Certified by the American Board of Family Practice, Dr. Micah T. Houghton is committed to providing exceptional preventive medicine, pediatric medicine, sports medicine and Diabetes treatments. Well educated, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Richmond in May 1989. In May 1995, he received his Doctor of Medicine from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Houghton also completed an internship, a residency and became Chief Resident in Family Practice.

To continue his education in family medicine, Dr. Houghton is a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians.

To give back, Dr. Houghton has volunteered on eight medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic. In his personal life, he is married and has two children.

Brent A. Logie, MD

Since July 2005, Dr. Brent A. Logie has been providing his patients with exceptional preventive medicine. Highly educated, he attended the University of North Dakota where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from University of North Dakota, School of Medicine in December 2001. Dr. Logie was then a Resident at Hanover Family Physicians while completing the Bon Secours Richmond Residency Program from July 2002-June 2005. In July 2005, he became Board Certified in Family Medicine.

Dr. Logie’s special interests include preventive medicine and hypertension. To stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and treatments, he is a member of many prestigious professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Medicine and the Richmond Academy of Medicine.

In his personal life, Dr. Logie enjoys traveling, wine tasting and fine cuisine.
